We need change.

I have learned a lot of different things about Education from this one class. We have seen several sides of the equation and talked with people involved in education on many levels. The education system today is a multifaceted issue that is influenced by people far from the classroom. A lot of reform and innovation that is realized with the best intentions, becomes outdated by the time it is implemented. Something needs to change. I have included this link which will direct you to my video blog post about ideas of how change could become less risky.

  1. “Change that is relevant for our students”

Your point about collaboration is pertinent. If policymakers, educators, and families do not work together then education as we have seen it in Denver won’t change. Change takes a lot of time. I agree with you mentioning how stakeholders want to see reforms happen quickly, but it’s just not possible (right now). The current educational infrastructure of our country is moving in a direction where relevance is essential. If stakeholders don’t seek community/neighborhood-driven reform then relevance may never exist. There is a lot of work to be done. I’m interested to learn more about how you think change will be shaped given the political and social climates affecting our schools.
